The Wizard's Prismatic Crystal
A downloadable game for Windows
While studying a long lost civilization our wizard comes upon stories of imbued Prismatic crystals. Magical objects that can absorb the magic of an area and eventually transfer that power into a wizard's own self. Piqued by curiosity and pride in their magic, our wizard seeks to fill this crystal but the creatures of this grassland disagree.
Gameplay
Goal: Survive until the Prismatic Crystal absorbs the energy from the surrounding land.
- If the Wizard takes too much damage from enemies they will die. (Enemies deal damage on contact)
- If the Prismatic Crystal takes too much damage from enemies the Wizard will lose. (Enemies Deal damage on contact)
- If the Wizard and Crystal survive for 1 minute then the Wizard succeeds and the player wins.
Next Steps(near)
Next steps for this Demo would be expanding player interaction options
- New spell: Implementing a second damage spell on right mouse button, likely an aoe focussed spell with a cooldown. Currently combat is intense but only has mild strategic elements and a crowd clearing spell could add to the strategic part of combat.
- New Spell: Implementing a defensive ability on E that blocks the next hit within 0.5seconds, 12 second cooldown. A core part of the game is that the player must manage both their own HP and the crystals HP. Right now it feels like if the player isn't preemptively killing everything then it is very difficult to manage player HP.
- New Enemy: A new explosive enemy that would self-destruct on attack or death dealing heavy damage. This would be able to damage to its allies. The goal being to introduce a new enemy variety that can also feel rewarding and fun.
Next Steps(far)
- New Regions: Implementing 1-2 more battlemaps in different regions with different enemies. The goal being to expand the content and lore of the game.
- New Magic: Implementing 1-2 more magic types each with 2 damaging abilities and one defensive abilities. The goal being to make the game have more options.
- New System/Menu: A pregame menu for players to switch between different magics (once unlocked). This would give more customization and make players pick a gameplay closer to what they desire.
